The Boyds Featherweight is a thumbhole design. With a large rollover cheek piece for scope usage and straight comb design to minimize cheek slap when shooting, the hand conforming thumbhole allows for increased accuracy while distributing the recoil among the palm and shoulder thus minimizing muzzle jump and felt recoil. The forend is proportioned to nicely complement barrels from 21 inches to 25 inches in length. The forend also has side vents which permit the free floating barrel to cool efficiently for those long days at the range.

Great fit and finish
I had the ruger 77 passed down to me. It was in pretty rough shape. It has been used for hunting for the past 30 years. Put the stock on and looks great and also feels great shooting.

Boyds featherweight forest camo stock for Ruger 77
Ordering and shipping went smoothly and in a timely fashion. The Ruger 338 Winchester Magnum required the barrel channel to be enlarged, but that was expected. The dual cross bolts are good, as this stock was ordered to replace the factory stock that had split. My preference was to sand down the right side of the stock next to the safety, but the safety access was acceptable without removing the excess material. I knew the recoil pad would be minimal in advance, so I will replace that with a Limbsaver 10030 and my Ruger will be ready for elk or moose. I like this stock.
