Doubles the contact area for a much easier release of the magazine or for pulling the release back to make inserting the magazine much easier.
The ergo design makes for a much nicer lever to actuate with gloves, young shooters and most shooters in general.

Extended magazine release
I really love this little magazine release, it's so much easier to drop and reload. I know the Savage 64 is a cheap rimfire É“ut savage should have done better on their release.
